Mansplaining

Growing up in a community that is known for its conservative nature with farming, hunting, and off-roading all some of the crowd favorites for activities to do, combined with living in a household clearly dominated with my father's presence, I have had a lot of relatively simple tasks explained to me repeatedly by the men in my life. However, being retaught things like how to park a car correctly or how football works, weren't the most frustrating things that were "mansplained" to me. The most frustrating experiences to me, are when I was, and still am, being constantly talked down to in an effort to explain things that I actually excel at, such as music or makeup (yes, I have had a man who never touched a tube of lipstick explain to me how I could make myself thinner and therefore more attractive by doing my makeup routine differently). These things are angering because they're talents I take pride in having, and that are constantly seen as another opportunity to put me in my place.
The patriarchal society we live in puts women in a place of "second to best" even if they are the best in their field or position. O
