privilege/oppression
I identify as a cis gender male and have never really thought about the privileges I get because of them until we had the readings for class. Each of my different aspects of my identity influences or impacts each other in some type of way. For example, my cis genderness affects my male identity in a positive way. On the other hand, if I were a a non cis gendered person, that identity has an impact on my professional identity. As a cis gendered person I get privileges such as access to may bathroom without being questioned or looked at when I enter or no one ever has to question which pronouns to use for me. As a male I have many privileges such as high mobility in corporate ladders and "being able to walk freely at night without fear of being assulted". I put that in quotes because that is a real fear I have but male privilege says that I shouldn't have to worry about it. As unlikely it sound as a male I do face some oppression. Men as well as women have unrealistic expectations as far as body image. They also have expectations of being a all around handy man. Services are much less available or accessible for men and if they need help or are receiving help there is a great stigma behind it. Men are often grouped together as one. I don't mean to say that in a standoffish way and I do understand that my privileges outweigh the oppression.
