Feminsit Selfie

     According to Ashley Farmer selfies are a feminist act because the individual taking the selfie is not only the object of the picture but also the photographer. This means that the individual taking the picture determines how they want to represent themselves, in contrast to traditional photographs where the person being photographed was represented by the photographer. The representation of the self, by the self, present in selfie photographs is a feminist act because individuals are given the chance to portray themselves in the way that they want for themselves.

This selfie that I took is a feminist act because this picture is taken by myself that represents myself. I chose this particular photo because I liked this one the best and thought that it represented me the best at the time that I took this photo. Although I am wearing make-up and look nice, it is for myself, no one else, and it is because of this that I also find this selfie to be empowering.
