Grace Gerass

My name is Grace Gerass and I am from Buffalo, N.Y. I am a senior public relations major with minors in business administration and leadership studies. I am very involved at Fredonia; I am the president of the Public Relations Student Society of America, vice president of communication for Sigma Kappa sorority, and a member of both Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Society and Golden Key International Honour Society. Once I graduate, I hope to find a job working in public relations.
I  identify as a (bad) feminist. My sign reads "I need feminism because I shouldn't have to tell a guy I'm taken for him to leave me alone."  A couple of months ago, I read an article online that stuck with me. It argued that women should stop telling men that they have boyfriends in hopes that men would stop harassing them. I admit that I, myself, have used this technique as a quick and easy fix to an annoying problem, especially on a night out. Then I read this article, which claimed that this technique only works because some men respect another man's ownership over you more than they respect the fact that you are not interested. I need feminism because I hope to live in a world where this habit is eliminated.
