My sign says "I need Feminism because I want women to feel like they are my equals and not my subordinates." I wrote this for a couple of reasons. 1. I love to debate, its fun and I think it helps people grow on an individual level and I think its good skill to be able believe in something and defend that belief while still being reasonable. 2. My family is for the most part conservative. Which has rubbed off on me to a certain degree. However I have always felt like the women in my family are very quick to do what ever their husbands say. This has never sat well with me because to me marriage is a team effort and couples need to work together not take orders from each other. I know that in a lot of relationships some one tends to "wear the pants" and the other is more passive, which is fine but I have always noticed its taken to another level in my family. I'm not afraid to say that I don't think I have ever had a male role model and I'm 96% confident that all the major roles models I have ever had and almost all the people who have helped me grow as a person are women. So I wrote what I wrote because I want everyone to feel equal. At least on a respect level. I cant have my friends and family cave into me because I am a man and I have hopes that some day if I get married that my wife will debate me, not feel like shes less then me. I want to be team and when I see the men in my family calling the shots everyday it upsets me.
