I have to admit before reading this blog post I never even took into account the precautions the Fredonia campus has for disabled people. I have the privilege of not needing certain assistances when walking or learning, and I never noticed how some other people that did need this assistance would get by.
Some good things that I have noticed that help with people who might have physical disabilities is the use of ramps, handicap buttons for doors, and lower level living for those who have trouble walking. For those who may have mental disabilities I know there are many consoling services that offer help, theres a learning tracking system that helps people with trouble learning, and there are always tutors to help. Even though the campus has this many positive ways to help people who might be disabled it still doesn't help with the social construction of how we look at people. I have seen many people on campus who do "The Stare" and whisper as people who may look, or act, different then them walk by. I wish at the college level we could al move on and be adults ad not need to make fun of someone who may be different.
