is Fredonia really helpful to the handicapped?

As I have walked around campus for the last year and a half I have noticed a lot of things that have disturbed me about Fredonia and their handicap accommodations. Fredonia's winters are not pleasant. Especially when the staff decides not to plow the 14 inches of snow that pile onto the sidewalks every couple days. That may be a little over dramatic, but it feels like that because the snow sits on the sidewalk for days and the staff does not plow it. They do not think about the handicapped on this campus that either have wheelchairs or are handicapped in some other way that can not make it through so much snow. Heck, I can barely walk through all that snow. People should keep in mind if they are not able to walk through the snow then a handicap person will not be able to. Another problem I found was there isn't elevators in certain dorms. My first year here I was a transfer. I lived in Schultz and I was unlucky enough to live on the third floor. So, move in day was not fun. I asked someone where the elevators were so I didn't throw out my back carrying all my luggage up the stairs. the RA said "oh, there isn't elevators in this building". And to be honest that really made me mad. How, could there not be an elevator in a campus dorm? not because I am lazy but because of the handicapped that may need to go upstairs or even live in this building for that matter. I know Schultz is one of the oldest dorm facilities on campus but, making sure there is handicap access is nothing new. Another thing that has been grinding my gears about campus and there handicap situation is where students that are handicapped have to sit when in some lecture halls. in McWen 202 I believe you must sit at the very top at a desk. the problems with this is. 1) what if that person can't see? 2) what if they have a hearing problem? and 3) it makes them feel left out. which is just unacceptable and needs to be fixed in some way. Over all Fredonia is a beautiful campus but, they need to start remembering that there are handicapped people on this campus and they need to accommodate to their needs and services.
