Social Construction at Fredonia State.

So we were asked to list and point out things that Fredonia does that helps to socially construct what a disabled person is. For some reason the only thing I can see in my perspective is wheel chair ramps. Which I don't know if would say that Fredonia its self in implementing because its part of NYS law that all public buildings have access like that. But I'm not sure if its even asocial construction, its simply accommodating those who have difficulty or the inability to use stairs.

One thing that I notice Fredonia does do is that on every syllabus we point out how there is help for those who need if they find themselves to be disadvantaged. Including the ability to test with more time or aid so that can complete the coarse like anyone else. But again this seems like an accommodating feature that for those are different.

The main thought I have about social constructing what some one can or can not do because of disabilities is that we really should just treat everyone as an equal. What I draw from the readings and the discussion in class is that we as people often make these ideas of people with a disability unaware that were putting them in a category just because they don't fit into the mainstream. This puts them at asocial disadvantage as they are almost view as less then an able bodied person and where this crosses feminism is this isn't equality and we need to recognize this current social norm and change it. But if anyone can show me where these social constructions are here I would actually like them pointed out to me because I honestly feel  blind to it all.
