I disagree with Tina Fey on the issue of photoshopping. In her opinion she thinks that there are bigger fish to fry and that getting upset about the use of photoshop is a waste of energy. I believe that excessive altering of photos is dangerous because it sets unreasonable expectations for a woman. People who grace the cover of magazines are well-known and admired so they are being closely watched by fans of all ages. A 10-year old girl could be just as influenced as a 40-year old woman. I think it depends on how the reader views the person that is being photographed. When people go to the gym they think "What can I do to get a booty like J-Lo?" When her appearance could have very well been altered making the goal of looking like her impossible.
I do not believe in any form of photoshopping. From reading about all of the preparation that went into Fey getting ready to be photographed it seems like that should be enough. Why does she then need to be photoshopped when her appearance has already been changed by makeup and wardrobe?
I have to say that if I was on the cover of a magazine I would want to see the photos of me before they were printed on a magazine to see if they truly represented me as a person.
