Male aggression is something that is terrifying. We see how common this aggressive behavior is; it is everywhere in our society and what's worse is that it is rewarded the majority of the time. But then why are we so surprised when this aggression is taken out on innocent people? Our society loves to reinforce the idea of masculine dominance but we are terrified to see the results of this reinforcement.
As the film showed and explained, our history of mass shootings or murder is sadly linked to one gender more than the other: men. Men are more commonly the perpetrator than women. Though this has been a thought and observation to many, there hasn't been anything done to combat this aggression. Violent video games are at the top of the charts along with violent movies and television. Men are rewarded for this violence when they play video games and they are also given the ideal form of masculinity when they watch our movies and TV. This is a vicious cycle that I don't see us breaking anytime soon; especially with the fight against feminism growing to stop the "sissying" of our males. There is one thing that our country is best at, attack anything that threatens us.
"Man up", "Don't act like such a b*tch", "You're a p*ssy", are all ways we reinforce this idea of masculinity and assertiveness and aggression. We give men all the attempts to prove their dominance against each other and mainly over women. Every issue that the film Tough Guise brought up is unfortunately not going anywhere any time soon. When we have a society that reinforces violence, it is almost impossible to stop that violence.
