Tough Guise

In the documentary film Tough Guise male aggression is taken into question. Whenever I watch the news and hear about a school shooting or murder I always assume it is a male perpetrator. It is an automatic thought and I hadn’t really questioned why it oftentimes men that commit vicious crimes until now.

During the time I was watching this I couldn’t help but think that men need feminism just as much as women do. I don’t think that male audiences see that they are suffering because of the way society raised them. Throwing a punch, saying something mean, and degrading women are all attempts at proving how dominant and powerful you are as a man. People on the receiving end suffer because of a man’s pursuit to be alpha dog.

Men are murdering fellow students in order to prove something to them. It is a radical effort to disprove their weakness. It is horrible that school shootings are now becoming common to hear about on the nightly news. This is not going to stop until men are given the confidence and support to embrace who they are.
