Photoshop Tina Fey Edition
Reading Tina Fey's Bossy Pants sparked a lot of ideas in my head on the topic of photoshop. When thinking about photoshop I have always associated it with negative things. I didn't like the idea of changing someones features so that they could "look perfect." But i really didn't get how much they changed a person from the photo taken to the magazine/billboard placement until I watched the Dove Evolution video. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf46U ) This video supported and showed examples of many of the points Fey made in the Amazing, Gorgeous, Not Like That chapter. It showed the perfect lighting added to the plentiful amount of makeup used before moving on to the gorgeous hair that looked perfect before the digital graphic designer even touched the photoshop button. But then the viewer also got to see what you usually don't see, the changing of the facial features so that they look "perfect." It really shows that even with pounds of makeup and hours spent on your hair you still cant " be perfect" at least in societies eyes. They make it so that the image of the person is physically impossible to attain. Photoshop is a sick disease that I have grown up with and hopefully my kids won't have to deal with it.
