Thinking about Photoshop

First off, I'm so glad to be writing about the fantastic Tina Fey. Secondly, I'm thrilled that it is on the subject of photoshopping. In her chapter "Amazing, Gorgeous, Not like That," Fey begins to give her readers a guide to follow as if we need some prep work for our future photo shoots. This procedure that one has to go through before they can even get in front of a camera is so long and grueling. This section really dispels any romantic notions that people may have about photo shoots. I am sure that middle school and Top Model obsessed me would have thought that they were something more glamorous.

I am not quite sure when I realized that all of the photos that I came across in magazines and ads were photoshoped. It was especially during my middle school and early high school days where I tried to work hard to achieve the ideal looks that I saw in these pictures. This of course was impossible to do! Fey makes a great point when she writes, "I don't see a future in which we're all anorexic and suicidal. I do see a future in which we all retouch the bejeezus out of our own pictures at home."

Recently, I came across an app called Photo Wonder. With this app you can really touch up your own pictures, right at the convenience of your own phone. What you do is take a selfie and use the app to clear up your complexion, whiten your teeth, make you look thinner, and with many filters at your disposal. There will  undoubtedly be many more apps out in the future that allow users to achieve the effects of photoshop.
