Gender identity

Even though Alex and Ani bracelets are very trendy, I must admit that I bought right in to them. Last year, my friend showed me the new dolphin one that she bought. I saw that it was a dolphin, and was a little confused, since I had never heard her show an interest in dolphins before. She then explained the meaning behind the dolphin bangle: Communication, Grace and Strength. I immediately understood why she wanted it, and then my mom bought it for me for my Easter gift.

The purpose of this back story is to explain the unique gender term that I chose: dolphin.

I consider myself to express very feminine gender qualities. I love sparkles, I enjoy doing my hair and makeup and I wear very "girly" clothes. I believe these qualities reflect the "grace" part of the dolphin. Bonus: it's my name!

I feel that I possess traditionally masculine character traits. I am dominant, outspoken and determined. I feel that these traits are represented by the "strength" part of the bangle.

Lastly, I place high a high emphasis on the importance of communication. I believe open communication is key. This, in my opinion, can be a masculine or feminine term. It is feminine because in the sense that women stereotypically want to express all their feelings; and masculine because men are confident enough to say whatever is on their mind. I hold both of these characteristics, and that is why I relate to the "communication" part of the bangle. Bonus: it's my major! (PR)

Overall, I think this is a fun way for me to describe maybe not all, but some of the key parts of my gender.
